Harrington Cancer Center Receives Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Accreditation
Harrington Cancer Center is a QOPI® Certified Practice. Certification by the QOPI Certification Program (QCPTM) is an acknowledgement that Harrington's hematology-oncology practices meet the highest standards for quality and safety.
To become certified, Harrington underwent an evaluation of its entire practice and documentation standards. The certification program staff and steering group members then verified through on-site inspection that the evaluation and documents are correct and that the practices met core standards in all areas of treatment, including:
- treatment planning;
- staff training and education;
- chemotherapy orders and drug preparation;
- patient consent and education;
- safe chemotherapy administration;
- monitoring and assessment of patient well-being.
Harrington Breast Center Achieves NAPBC Accreditation
The Harrington Breast Center has been granted full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. In order to receive this accreditation, the Harrington Breast Center completed a rigorous evaluation process and review of its performance.
Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that a patient will have access to:
- Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services
- A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
- Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
- And, most importantly,
- Quality breast care close to home.
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
The Harrington Breast Center has earned the designation of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The American College of Radiology has determined that the Harrington Breast Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
PET Services Accreditation
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a medical diagnostic imaging procedure that provides physicians with a picture of how the organs in the body function. The PET services of Harrington Cancer Center have been surveyed and approved by the American College of Radiology.
CT Services Accreditation
A computed tomography (CT) scan uses X-rays to make detailed pictures of structures inside of the body. The CT services of Harrington Cancer Center have been surveyed and approved by the American College of Radiology.
Radiation Oncology Services Accreditation
The Radiation Oncology Services of Harrington Cancer Center have been surveyed and accredited by the American College of Radiology and the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
The Harrington Cancer Center Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program helps laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.
